Ingredients
8ouncesorganic tempeh
4tablespoonsorganic tamari or organic soy sauce
2tablespoonsmaple syrup
1teaspoonliquid smokeoptional
1teaspoongarlic powder
1/4 teaspoonground black pepper
Instructions
Slice tempeh in half so you have approximately two 4-inch by 4-inch blocks. Then slice each block into about 8 slices, 1/4 inch thick. You should have 16 pieces.
Add tempeh and the rest of the ingredients to a container to marinate.
Let marinate for about 30 minutes (or longer).
Place marinated tempeh with the marinating liquids into a pan. Cook, turning over to cook both sides, for about 5 minutes or until liquids are absorbed.
Notes
IN A HURRY VERSION:Follow step 1, then pan-fry in a bit of oil for about 5 minutes on each side to brown, Add 1 tablespoon of water to the pan. Then add the rest of the ingredients to the pan and flip slices of tempeh in the sauce to coat. Continue cooking for about 3 more minutes.
